The manic racing action of Motorstorm roars out of the desert but the riders aren't out of the fire yet as they race along an active volcano. This new track is just one of the many tropical island race courses featured in Motorstorm 2: Pacific Rift and successfully completing it requires planning ahead. Drivers favoring the boost feature will find their engines taking more damage while blasting past lava floes. Cooling mist and waterfalls await a€" but they require detours. Roar across sandy beaches, through rivers, along volcanic slopes through abandoned buildings and jungle trails on motorcycles, buggies, big rigs and monster trucks among the 7 types of available racers. Each vehicle requires a different strategy for success. Big rigs and monster trucks can power through obstacles a€" including knocking over buildings. Smaller vehicles are more nimble and able to go places larger behemoths can't a€" but a rider can easily get knocked off an ATV by a low branch and even a buggy can get squashed. Realistic physics, detailed, deformable terrain and aggressive AI combine to form a racing event like no other. Collisions with opponents or terrain will cause parts and panels to fly off vehicles and wrecked hulks become yet another obstacle on the course. Four player split screen lets you talk trash and crash with offline players while online competitions can pit up to 20 players in races where they must fight the terrain and each other to survive, let alone finish.
